Good night my angels

These pictures below are amazing and I will tell you why. The kids are in beds in THEIR ROOM. No these are not "the beds" and Mike is not "lucky" enough for me to let him off the hook. Who wants me to cook them supper to help finish "the beds"? They were all excited about putting them up until it came time for them to go to sleep. It took about an hour of us going back and forth for them to finally go to sleep. The pictures below are of them before they went to sleep and the final one is after they went to sleep.
Blaine's pillow that matches got wet b/c he spilled drink so he had to use one of mine. Brittney was pretending to snore and apparently I clicked at the wrong time.
Blaine said he needed a fan although I do not believe this one is going to keep him cool. Brittney wanted a picture of her pretending to sleep.

Mmm Mmm Good

Tonight we had steaks for supper and even though I did grill them they were delicious. Although that is not why I am making this post. While I was grilling the steaks I just thought of Saturday and some funnies.

First Blaine rode with Mike to Marion to get some stone. While they were on their way Mike got pulled. Well apparently the officer had been behind him but Mike had not see him in the dump truck until he came to an intersection. Mike went on through the intersection so he would not block traffic with his dump truck and trailer. When he stopped the officer came to the truck with his gun pulled yelling at Mike to get his hands out of the window. Now can you just see Mike with Blaine sitting beside him trying to roll down his window as fast as he can because he does not have electric windows. All went well with that and actually I still am not sure why he was pulled in the first place. Mike said they were almost back home when they passed a State Trooper and Blaine looked over at him and told him "he is coming to get you." When they got home I asked Blaine about it and he told me at first he thought it was a fire truck.

That afternoon I went to go pick up our half a cow we had ordered and asked the kids "Do you want to go with me to pick up our half a cow?" Sorry I can not remember which one but they actually asked me was it alive? I got so tickled and said I sure hope not. We also learned what a pig pizza was on Friday. A cousin, Wyatt said he loved pig pizza which is bacon, sausage and ham. That is just as good as when I go through a drive through and ask the kids if they want chicken or cow.

Isn't he sweet?

Now that is not something you hear Brittney say very often about Blaine. Although he was asleep and I just happened to be putting the camera card back in the camera and caught her leaning over to give him a kiss... now that was priceless. Today I tried to bribe them into taking their naps by letting them bring their mattresses into the living room and yes you read that right. Blaine was tired because he is not feeling good and Brittney does like to play "little Mama". Blaine took a nap but I think Brittney just laid there long enough to satisfy me.

Out of the mouths of babes

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. Psalm 8:1-2

But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant.
"Do you hear what these children are saying?" they asked him.
"Yes," replied Jesus," have you never read, " 'From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise'?" Matthew 21:16-17

I have really got to get one of those small recorders to catch my kids at their most precious moments. Today we spent the afternoon until bedtime tonight at Cathy's so that we could visit with Granny who was having a better day. So tonight we come home and got ready for bed. As we are laying in the bed having our nightly talk Brittney asked to say her prayers first. It was such a sweet simple prayer. She asked God to take Granny home to Jesus and to take good care of her and told him how we all wanted to come home one day. WOW!! This just really took my breath.

Just a few nights ago while we were at Cathy's, Blaine came up to me and asked me why Gaga was crying. My simple answer was she is sad to what he answered me "Is she sad because Granny is dying?" It is so fresh in our family after the passing of my Papa just a little over a month ago. It really seems so unfair that we already facing the same kind of grief again but in the midst of all this I am thankful. My kids - all of my kids - know something that even some adults have never been able to completely accept or understand. We were created to worship God and through Jesus Christ we will have eternal life - it really is just that simple.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

14 Hours sleep

On Thursday Brittney stayed with Mama so I could work at the nursery. She got to stay because she is the "whiny baby" as Blaine says. Actually that does not sound fair but that is how it played out. I had to have something special for Blaine so that he would not throw a fit to stay too. So I told him he could have the camera that day. Well we dropped Brittney off a little bit before 10am. We did not even walk her in because I was worried about Blaine getting upset, she just got out of the car and went in herself.

Blaine & I then went to the nursery where I started watering and he started working. He was earning money for toys! He filled his wheelbarrow he got for his birthday with dirt and then we carried it up the hill for him to put in some of the tree pots that needed topping off. He dug, watered and even pruned the butterfly bushes for me. While he was pruning the bushes he noticed the mess it was making on the mat so he went and got a broom and dust pan. He then swept all the clippings into the dust pan and promptly carried them the 3 feet to the edge of the mat and dumped them out. As long at they were not on the mat it was not a mess to him. When he was threw with the butterfly bushes he felt he had master the pruners and wanted to go around the whole nursery so I had to talk him out of them.

We left the nursery at 5:30pm to run some errands and by the time I reached Oak Ridge he was saying he was so tired. As I looked in my mirror to see him talking he went to sleep before he could finish his sentence. We arrived back the house about 6:15pm and I carried him into the living room and sat him in Mike's recliner thinking he would wake up because I have never been able to carry any of my kids but Brent in and them stay asleep. Finally about 7pm when I could not wake him up I carried him to Brent's bed and took his shoes off. Mike tried several times to wake him up but he would just bury his head in the pillows.

Finally at 11:30pm he started yelling my name. As soon as I got into the room he was saying he had peed in Brent's bed...oops I forgot to put a pull up on. So I undressed him, cleaned him up, put a pull up on, stripped the bed, and moved him. I was worried he was going to be up for the night then but all he did was ask me if it was his turn to stay with Grammy and then back to sleep until 7:30am the next morning. He had a total of 14 hours sleep. I guess I worked him to hard at the nursery but the good thing is that he was really rested up for his night at Grammy and Papa's last night!

Below are a few of the over 100 pictures he took on Thursday.

This is his fingernails he painted

I took these pictures but I am sure you guessed that.

He must be kin to Papa to take this many pictures!

4th of July Weekend

We started off the 4th with the Kville parade. After the parade I carried the kids to visit with Papa, Gaga, Granny and PawPaw until we went to Mama and Daddy's for a cookout. Then we watched the fireworks from there. It was nice because we could see the fireworks and had no crowd to worry about. The kids then stayed the night with Grammy and Papa and they spent all day Saturday on the boat. I am positive Daddy has some pics of that. We ended the weekend with Mike & I going to Outback (where else would we go) to celebrate our 17 years of marriage. There are no pictures to post because I have not got Daddy's pictures yet and I did not take a camera. So I thought I would post some old 4th of July pics so you could see how the kids have grown. These are from 2006 and you can tell that even Brent has change some in two years.

The next pictures are from 2004 so they you can really see how much all my babies have grown.

Brent still stays in front of the computer!!

Oh, the things we do to our kids when they are little and helpless. Daddy has pics from this weekend. I will make him an administrator and maybe in his spare time he will upload some for us to see. I do know how much Mama will appreciate me giving Daddy something else to do!

Bella

Bella is our new kitten. It has taken me awhile to get her on the blog because the kids keep her busy and she spends a lot of time hiding. So I got a picture of her this AM before Blaine got up and they started fussing over her.

The story of how we got Bella is really cute. We got out of the van for my Papa's funeral and here comes this kitten running up the side of the building. Of course I reached out to pet her but she took off so I just assumed she was really wild. After the funeral before we reached the graveyard Brittney was asked if her Papa knew she wanted a kitten and her answer was "No, but God told him." So we now have a new kitten and our old cat still does not like her even though it has been almost three weeks. Kali just sits and stares at her and the kitten go crazy making all kinds of noises and her hair standing up. It is actually quiet entertaining.

Also Blaine is the one who shut her in the washcloth drawer for the night. I got up one morning last week and after I had been up for a little bit I started hearing the kitten meowing. I tried following the meows but she was not doing it that often. They sounded like they were coming from Brent's room until she started meowing more often and I realized they were coming from our hall bathroom. Once I get into the bathroom I started looking around and did not see here. She was not in the bathtub so I opened the cabinets and then I started opening the drawers starting with the bigger drawers at the bottom. Well you can imagine my surprise when I got to the smallest drawer and there lays Bella. We were in a hurry to get to VBS so later in the day I remembered to ask Blaine about putting the kitten in the drawer. His answer was so matter of fact "Yes, I put her in so she could sleep." Well I do not know why I could not have figured that out on my own. The poll is closing in just a few minutes and I am the only one who voted that she climbed in there on her own just so Blaine would not get 100%.
